Day in Gilbert's Resort
Everyone from the receptionist to the man guiding traffic were professional, had no pause in answering my questions and were dressed the part. The onsite pool, restaurants, live entertainment, parking, cabanas, and docks were too notch. The room we stayed in (2nd floor) was clean upon checking in, a/c cooled properly, t.v. worked well, and the views were fantastic. This resort is one that you could have, if desired, stayed onsite without moving your car the whole duration. Food options from the onstie amenities were delicious, priced reasonably and the staff were thoroughly impressive pointing out the hours for areas, the requirements needed and how to go about the s.o.p. to used the pool and cabanas. This is one of those resorts that you could be married at. Breathtaking sunrises, sunsets could only be eclipses by the presence, but not overbearing nature, of security. Not just security guards...I'm taking armed and trained police and sheriffs. It made me feel safe and secure at all times. And although with enough booze things can get out of hand from time to time, there were no incidents, arrests or bad behavior. A true R&R destination if you are looking for a place to never leave through your visit if that's your choice. The onsite coffee bar was excellent and delicious. Even when we were packing up our vehicle to leave, (3 a.m.), there was presence of security and nobody hanging around. Everyone had that unwritten rule of courtesy and I was never woke up by loud and out of control guests. In fact the guests were courteous and jovial happy to answer and interact with me personally. I'd say I met atleats a dozen of nice, family oriented couples, as well as respectful young children happy to hold the door for you and smile. I plan on making this my "go to" because it's amazing. I have been visiting the keys for years.

The resort is well situated (though not in walking distance to places outside the resort). The room was clean and had a gorgeous view over the waterfront. The chairs on the terrace to be able to sit outside the room were a nice touch. The bathroom was slightly dated but functional. The coffee machine and fridge in the room were appreciated. There was a good amount of storage space and the room was a nice size. The cabana area and service were excellent. There is a nice small private beach. The bar/restaurant is also nice although it would be good to have some daily specials to liven up the menu. Also, some drinks (cocktails/wine) were on the expensive side, although the 10% off voucher for resident guests helped. It was also nice to have access to jet ski and kayak rental from third parties in the resort grounds. The hotel went above and beyond with the room arrangements to make the last night of mine and my husband's honeymoon special.

This is a hidden gem of the Keys! The rooms have been updated and are very clean, with comfortable beds and great AC! Every room looks out onto the water!! The entire property is fabulous, I spent the entire morning just walking around taking pictures. There is a small beach, with a special cabana area for hotel guests. It has a huge covered patio and bar area- great drinks and everything we had to eat was really good. Even if you end up staying somewhere else, it's an amazing place to stop and hang out. There's live music on the weekends, but we were there on a Tuesday. The complimentary breakfast and coffee was just enough to get our day started right. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!!!

Loved the room, it was small but clean and comfortable. The room had a water view, which was nice, but no shears, just room darkening shades. After a couple of days we realized that the outside of the windows had a mirrored finish so during the day you could not see in from the outside, but in the evenings, you had to put the shades down, so no view. When we arrived (on a Sunday) the resort was packed. There is a huge Tiki bar and music and it appeared from the crowds of people, the place to be for weekends. It is only this way on weekends, the rest of the week it was quiet. The pool area was nice, but the pool lounges were hard plastic and not very comfortable.

We have been coming to Gilbert's for over 20 + years and it is always a great atmosphere we love it there. This is the first time we rented for the weekend and let me tell you it was a great experience. We were celebrating our anniversary. Yoli at front desk was exceptional with check in and answered our question very professional. The food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and the rooms very clean and all around a great experience. We got a cabana and wow what peace and tranquility I forgot we were in the keys. You get the best of both worlds because they have live music on the weekends so you can rock the night away and then enjoy the next day peacefully
